As the world Environmental Day 2023 focuses on the urgent mission of tackling plastic pollution through the powerful campaign to BEAT PLASTIC POLUTION, GHANA INSTITUTE OF SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENTAL PROFESSIONALS, the sole registered Occupational Health, Safety, and Environmental Professional body of Ghana extends warm regards to all its Members, Ghanaians, and the World at large.

Did you Know? The plastics we dump randomly end up in drains which leads into regional water bodies and oceans to cause mischief.

Take note of the following useful tips to Beat Plastic Pollution in your environment at all times.

--Facts About Plastics:
- Plastics are made from fossil fuels, a key contributor to global climate change.
- Plastics takes hundreds of years to decompose.
- Only a tiny percentage is recycled.
- Plastics leach toxins into food and drinks
- Causes hormonal disruption and cancer.
- Pollute our oceans and water bodies.
- Kills marine animals, wildlife, and birds upon consumption.

- Follow Below Standard for Safe Disposal of Plastic Waste:
- Adapt to the 3R’s (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle) as much as possible.
- Ensure proper segregation of waste and discard all plastic waste in the recyclable waste bins provided at vantage points in your home and at workplace.
- All plastic waste kept in the demarcated zones must be disposed of securely in accordance with your area's recognized standard, such as disposal at a landfill site."
